Lifetime Contribution Metric

Lifetime Contribution = total number of lifetime hours invested into a specific domain to date

The “Lifetime Contribution” metric can be used in some domains where evaluating someone’s probability of making future positive contributions to their domain might be useful.

This metric might serve as a rough and imperfect objective proxy for understanding whose views to weigh higher than others.

To semi-objectively evaluate, have three randomly selected evaluators blindly review a person’s CV, resume, LinkedIn, and/or portfolio. Optionally also evaluate the person’s own estimates for their Lifetime Contribution hours.

Include more evaluators if needed to ensure inter-rater reliability is above .75.

This is a misleading metric in some domains (e.g., evaluating some types of innovation). But it can be useful in that it reduces human bias in evaluating expertise.
