For Social Entrepreneurs

I’ve helped 30+ early stage social entrepreneurs work through the key issues their startups face. I’ve “been there” myself, so it’s second nature to me to diagnose problems and opportunities and help entrepreneurs develop a plan of attack. In my other life, I’m also a coach. Most of these sessions tend to merge the two methodologies.

I deeply enjoy the consulting process itself. But my favorite part comes afterward: I love to see the people I work with go on to massively succeed. My second favorite part is when they fail, but learn from the experience and start again with an even better approach.

After I’ve collected enough data, I will publish the results my clients have experienced after our engagements. All of the results, both favorable and unfavorable. I do this for my coaching practice already. For a summary, I’ve seen at least three go on to be quite successful. One raised S$2M, another secured a S$270K grant, and another received S$180K in investment. But the majority failed to launch (which is normal).

What is hard is assigning how much of a role our engagements played in contributing to their long-term outcomes. How much “causal force” can be attributed to our sessions? In two words: not much. I’m an entrepreneur first and foremost, so I think 99.9% of the credit goes to the team doing the actual work!

On occasion I have switched from a consulting role to a deep operations role. I call this freelance social entrepreneurship.

I’ve also helped several impact investors and venture philanthropists improve their pipeline and understand the social change ecosystem in Singapore. I have deep on the ground experience which I am happy to share.
